This Bara cuvée's nose has aromas of fleshy fruits with overtones of Mirabelle plums. It opens up into spices and honey, underlined by candied fruit aromas, bergamot and orange peel. The palate is fruity and fresh with body and intensity of flavour.
The Bara family has been growing vines in the village of Bouzy since 1833. Paul Bara, who passed away in 2015, was the most prominent personality in Bouzy, and a legendary figure in the Montagne de Reims. (He also wrote a very interesting book retracing the story of his 'beloved' village, its people and their wines and culture.) Today, Bara’s daughter Chantale is in charge of the 27-acre (11-hectare) estate. The family’s wines are classic examples of Bouzy terroir, demonstrating the ample body and ripe fruitless of pinot noir grown on south-facing slopes. Chantale has served as President of the Club Trésors de Champagne, the exclusive club of Family Estate Champagne producers.
