Their Story: The Chartongnes have been established since1450 in Merfy, near Saint-Thierry, whose monastery vineyard was famous long before the appearance of Champagne. Their vineyards are among the closest to Reims. Philippe Chartongne, his wife, Elisabeth, and their son, Alexandre, have all been involved in the winemaking. Today Alexandre leads the House and you can follow his Blogs.
“Despite the lack of notoriety for their village along the river Vesle… Chartongne offers Champagne of richness, refinement, and great flavor interest at reasonable prices.” Robert Parker
